A fine over jasmine flowers
As reported by Manorama Online, Navya shared that she was unaware of the restriction on carrying jasmine flowers into Australia. Speaking at the Onam event, she explained that her father had lovingly packed two strands of jasmine for her journey — one to wear on her flight from Kochi to Singapore, and another to be used later. “I placed the flowers in a carry bag and kept them in my hand luggage. But what I did was against the law. It was a mistake made unknowingly,” Navya admitted.Authorities at Melbourne Airport found the 15-centimeter strand of jasmine and imposed a fine of 1,980 Australian dollars (around Rs 1.25 lakh). “I know ignorance is not an excuse. A mistake is still a mistake, but it was not intentional. They told me I have 28 days to pay the fine,” the actress added, stressing her regret over the incident.Meanwhile on the work front, Navya Nair’s previous outing was the drama film ‘Janaki Jane’ which also featured Saiju Kurup in the lead.
