Mel traveled to Peg, Debbie, and Cindy’s homes to meet their families, but he wasn’t necessarily welcomed with open arms by all.
Mainly, Peg and Cindy’s daughters had reservations about the ex-football star dating their mothers after believing that he didn’t give straight answers about his feelings for the women.
Mel admitted he wasn’t in love with any of the women, but he struggled with those feelings after past heartbreak.
In the end, he gifted Peg and Cindy roses, leaving Debbie in tears.

WHAT THE MEL?
Golden Bachelor execs ‘embarrassed’ by bad ratings and regret casting Mel
Fans were heartbroken for Debbie, especially after she opened up about the tragic end of her last romance.
During a one-on-one outing, Debbie revealed to Mel that her last relationship ended in devastation after her ex took his own life two weeks after she broke up with him.
She confessed that it took a while for her to heal from the tragedy, and that she poured her heart into her work in the years after, until now, when she finally felt ready to find her forever partner.
Debbie had previously gotten vulnerable about never marrying or settling down with anyone because she had yet to meet Mr. Right.
Viewers rallied behind Debbie on social media after her heartbreaking departure.
“Debbie deserves a good man. I think Mel knew he couldn’t live up to it,” one person wrote on X.
“Debbie should immediately be the only person considered to be the next golden bachelorette,” another suggested.
“Team Debbie golden bachelorette,” someone else echoed.
“I wanna give Debbie a hug,” a fourth said.
Others thought that Mel’s now-ex “dodged a bullet” because he didn’t seem as smitten with any of the final three ladies.
Mel had trouble winning over Cindy and Peg’s daughters, and he’s apparently not winning over viewers either, as ratings have taken a significant dip.
The U.S. Sun exclusively reported earlier this month that Golden Bachelor producers were “embarrassed” over the massive drop in viewership this season and regretted choosing Mel as the lead.
According to Nielsen ratings, viewership so far has been drastically lower than last season’s when Gerry Turner was looking for love.
A source also revealed that producers believed “miscasting” was the issue, but “didn’t see it until it was too late.”
Mel made waves before the season even began when he made an ill-received remark on a podcast about desiring younger women.

He’s since apologized to the contestants, most of whom were over 60, numerous times, and even allowed them to “roast” him on a previous episode.
Still, some fans aren’t buying that Mel is connected with any of the ladies, with many claiming it’s “apparent” that there’s a lack of chemistry.
