Owners of the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold have been noticing a strange new bug, as several Redditors have reported a question mark instead of a battery percentage indicator.
Apart from some speculation, no one has any actual idea why the battery is doing this. Android Central pointed out that the issue seems to be popping up for users who are using a wireless charger, especially third-party or non-Qi2-certified ones. One theory is that these chargers may have caused a “brief communication or calibration error” between the battery’s management system and the Pro Fold’s software, leaving the device unsure of its actual charge level.
The author of the Reddit post also suggested their issue was a software bug, as they had to reboot their device to restore the battery percentage.
On the other hand, Android Police noted that some users in the Reddit thread are warning about more serious issues tied to the question mark, including those who claim their phones fully bricked after the battery question mark appeared.
Although the issue has mainly affected Pixel 10 Pro Fold devices, users of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold have also noticed the same question mark beside the battery icon. One user who had the same issue contacted Google Support and received a replacement device after the device had completely died after just over a year.
A spokesperson from Google who spoke to Android Central confirmed that the correct fix for the issue is to reboot the device, alongside switching to a Qi2-certified charger to charge the device.
Google isn’t the only company facing this issue, as Samsung’s Galaxy Ring hospitalized a man after the battery started swelling and became stuck on his finger.
