Demi Moore revealed that her former co-star Tom Cruise seemed “embarrassed” by her pregnancy while filming A Few Good Men in the early ’90s.

She opened up about their “awkward” dynamic at the New Yorker Festival on Saturday, October 25.

Moore also opened up about pressure to get in shape even before she gave birth, revealing that she did a 24-mile bike ride the day her water broke.

Demi Moore might have finally gotten her flowers at age 60 for her portrayal of an aging star who experiments with a black market drug to regain her youth, but The Substance actress has three decades in Hollywood under her belt. Moore took a trip down memory lane in a new interview, reflecting on how she balanced motherhood with her career—as well as how her second pregnancy made for an “awkward” filming dynamic with former co-star Tom Cruise.

While making an appearance at the New Yorker Festival on Saturday, October 25, the Ghost alum opened up about reading lines with Cruise for A Few Good Men when she was eight months pregnant with her second daughter, Scout Willis, whom she shares with ex-husband Bruce Willis. Chatting with Jia Tolentino during a Q&A portion, Moore recalled there being an uncomfortable dynamic when the co-stars began pre-production on the 1992 movie.

“I think Tom was quite embarrassed,” Moore shared, per People. “I actually felt okay about it. I was moving around, though, right? But I could tell he felt that it was a bit awkward.”

However, the Charlie’s Angels actress chalked up the weird dynamic to Cruise (and other Hollywood actors) not being used to being around pregnant co-stars. Explaining that it was rare for actors to balance motherhood and their careers at the time, Moore added, “It’s one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn’t make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, ‘Why not? Why can’t you have both?’ But with that, I think, came a lot of pressure I put on myself to, in a sense, prove that it was possible.”

Part of that included pressure to get back into shape even before she gave birth. Moore, who played a Marine in the film, shared, “I was going to be in a military uniform, and probably overly anticipated and started working out and trying to get in shape even before she was born.” She revealed that she did a particularly grueling workout the day Scout was born, recalling, “I did a two-and-a-half-hour hike the day my water broke. I did a 24-mile bike ride, and then was dancing at a reggae club—hence why she came two-and-a-half weeks early.”
