The team said plans for the Canada trip had been in place for almost a year, but could not be announced until now as a safety precaution.
Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter had previously told CNN the move was “inevitable if not predictable”, pointing to previous occasions on which Harry released news during his brother’s important royal visits.
Though Harry recently reconnected with his estranged father, King Charles III, it is believed he and William have not spoken to one another for two years.

The speculation comes as sources have alleged that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are wearing out their welcome in Hollywood, Page Six reports.
The pair stepped down as working royals and moved to Montecito, California, in January 2020 in a decision that sparked division within the palace ranks.
While at first they were embraced by Los Angeles celebrities, a source told Page Six that “people are sick of them, the act has gotten stale”.
The source’s claim that they were “hopeless in professional settings” seemed to corroborate previous reports that the couple had left Spotify executives unimpressed.
They produced only 12 episodes of Markle’s Archetypes podcast after signing a US$20 million ($35.3m) deal with the streaming service.
According to Vanity Fair, Spotify staff suggested Harry could host a weekly podcast reviewing different hot chocolates with a guest – an idea he roundly rejected.
In September 2024, an insider told the Hollywood Reporter that Markle was difficult to work with.
“She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice. They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently”, the source said.
“Harry is a very, very charming person – no airs at all – but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”
However, Netflix chief executive Ted Sarandos is said to remain a fan of the pair, with plans in the works for more Sussex television productions.
