A damaged fiber optic line has cut internet service for some Spectrum customers in Baker City, an outage that started on Monday, Sept. 8, and hadn’t been fixed as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

“Technicians are working to restore service as quickly as possible,” said Danielle Dunn, a spokesperson for Charter Communications. “We appreciate our customers’ patience during this time.”

The outage is affecting residential as well as business customers, some of whom depend on an internet connection to process transactions.

Carly Carlson, who owns Elkhorn Custom Apparel in Baker City, said she had to close her business Tuesday because her projects required internet service, and because she couldn’t do billing for customers.

Her phone line was also down.

“It kind of ties our hands,” Carlson said Tuesday afternoon.

Carlson said her internet service stopped around 1 p.m. Monday.
