Isabelle Fuhrman will return as modern horror icon Esther in the upcoming Orphan 3, and Bloody Disgusting has learned that filming on the third installment is now underway.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra’s Orphan introduced the world to Esther back in 2009, and Isabelle Fuhrman later reprised the role for the 2022 prequel movie Orphan: First Kill.

Orphan: First Kill’s writer David Coggeshall (“The Family Plan”) and director William Brent Bell (“The Boy” franchise) are both returning for Orphan 3, currently titled Orphans.

Plot details for Orphan 3 are currently under wraps. Stay tuned for more. Dark Castle Entertainment is the production label attached to the new installment.

Isabelle Fuhrman teased that the third film will be “wilder and crazier.”

“Dark Castle is excited to announce another terrifying chapter in the Orphan saga,” said Norman Golightly, Co-CEO of Dark Castle Entertainment.

“With the past success of the first two movies and another thrilling storyline, we are confident Orphan 3 will be a must-see movie for both current fans of the franchise, and new fans alike.”

In the original Orphan, “A husband and wife adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she appears.” It turns out that Esther is actually a 33-year-old adult woman.

In the 2022 prequel, “After orchestrating a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility, Esther travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family.”
