Two Tairāwhiti-based businesses enter liquidation, allegedly owing hundreds of thousands in tax

  • November 15, 2025

The only creditor listed is IRD, which is claiming $158,324.58 as a preferential unsecured creditor and $333,920.54 as an unsecured creditor. It has also claimed $1544.79 in applicant creditor costs.

“The cause of this liquidation appears to be related to a failure to account for taxation,” the report says.

Company director Rahera Dewes told the Gisborne Herald the amount owing was for tax only.

“No other creditors were affected, and all my employees were paid their final pay.

“The IRD person I was dealing with was unreasonable and non-negotiable, which was disappointing for everyone involved.”

She said the newspaper delivery company could not meet its tax obligations because it did not receive enough income after paying wages and expenses.

According to the Companies Office website, the business was incorporated on May 8, 2024.

Dewes said the company had 17 drivers across the district, including Wairoa.

For Pari-Collins Building, the summary of claims gives an estimated total claims figure of $309,739.31 with three unsecured creditors, one secured creditor and one preferential unsecured creditor.

The largest amount allegedly owing is to IRD, which is claiming $149,658.68 as a preferential unsecured creditor and $148,374.81 as an unsecured creditor. It has also claimed $1682.89 in applicant creditor costs for a total of $299,716.38.

Other creditors are Novus Glass Gisborne, Laser Electrical Gisborne and Fletcher Distribution.

“The cause of this liquidation appears to be related to a failure to account for taxation,” the first liquidator’s report reads.

Pari-Collins director Quinnton Pari-Collins has been approached for comment via Facebook.
