The Scary Movie franchise returns to the big screen next year with Scary Movie 6, with Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back to write the new movie and franchise stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall set to lead the cast. But which horror movies do the Wayans Brothers plan on spoofing in next year’s big franchise reunion?
Much has changed about the horror genre in the 25 years since the Scary Movie franchise was launched, with countless new classics for the brothers to spoof this time around. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Marlon Wayans spills the beans on some of the films he’s going after.
“There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day,” Wayans tells the outlet. And he mentions the following recent horror films specifically…
I Know What You Did Last Summer
Scream
Heretic
Longlegs
Get Out
Nope
Sinners
Here’s the full quote from Wayans: “I mean, you know, I’m just a fan of the whole genre. I Know What You Did Last Summer may have something in there. I think the Scream franchise is always a great one. I think Heretic was a wonderful film. Longlegs. Get Out. Nope. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. Sinners.”

Michael Tiddes is directing the franchise’s upcoming sixth installment, releasing on June 12, 2026, with Rick Alvarez writing and producing alongside the Wayans brothers.
The first Scary Movie was released in 2000, just four years after Wes Craven reinvigorated the horror genre with his meta slasher masterpiece, Scream. The film parodied horror movies of the time including Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and The Blair Witch Project, and the horror-comedy spoof scared up $278 million at the worldwide box office.
The smash hit box office success of that first Scary Movie paved the way for an entire franchise of horror movie spoofs, with five of them in total released between 2000 and 2013.
Only the first two Scary Movie installments were created by the Wayans Brothers, however, with Scary Movie 6 marking their return to the franchise for the first time since 2001.
