Claire Danes, who conceived her third child at age 44, admits to feeling “terrified” and ashamed by the “’oopsie-daisy” pregnancy.

“I was so old when that happened — I was 44,” the My So-Called Life alum, 46, said during the SmartLess podcast on Monday, November, 17. “I didn’t think it was possible — I really didn’t. I was terrified, but all was OK.”

The Homeland star and her husband Hugh Dancy share sons Cyrus, 12, Rowan, 7, and a daughter, 2, whose name the couple has not shared publicly.

“It was actually really interesting because I did not foresee this at all. And it was weird, suddenly I felt like a funny shame,” Danes explained on the podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. “Like, I was naughty. Like, I had been caught fornicating past the point I was meant to.”

“No, it was weird,” she continued, “and it was like I found an edge that I hadn’t been quite conscious of, like I was going outside of the parameters a little bit and that was wild.”

Danes, who is starring in the new psychological thriller The Beast in Me on Netflix, said on the podcast that she got “really, really lucky” with her third child.

“My OB/GYN was like, ‘You know, you’re having another boy,’ but no! Turns out …” Danes added, noting she would have been “delighted” no matter the sex of the baby.

“She’s pretty cool,” Danes said of her youngest child. “And she loves a tutu.”
