The Avoca-Blue River-Muscoda Lions Club is offering a new book taken from the headlines of the Muscoda Progressive during the past 50 years.
Volume one of the two-volume edition is currently available for $25 at the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board office located next to the village hall in Muscoda.
Prominent local historian Ken Thiede was the main force behind compiling volume one, which covers the years 1974-99. Thiede thanked longtime publishers Wendell and Vi Smith for permission to use the headlines and content, as well as Librarian David Baumann and staff at the Muscoda Public Library for their assistance and support.
Funds raised from the book sale will be used by the Avoca-Blue River-Muscoda Lions Club to support community projects such as scholarships for graduating seniors from Riverdale High School, donations to local fire departments and rescue squads, and the purchase of eyeglasses for those in need.Â
