Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor would be “crushed” if his ex-wife “found someone new”, a source has claimed after reports that Sarah Ferguson is “never going to give up on love”. The disgraced royal married Sarah in 1986, before the former couple officially divorced in 1996.
Andrew and Sarah, 66, have both been stripped of their royal titles and will soon vacate Royal Lodge amid the scandal involving their connection to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. During their marriage, Sarah and Andrew welcomed two daughters, Princess Beatrice, in 1988, and Princess Eugenie, in 1990.
It has been reported that Sarah would be open to finding love again, with a source now sharing how Andrew would likely feel if a new relationship blossomed for his ex-wife.
Speaking to Closer, the source claimed that Beatrice is worried about how her father would react if her mum ever entered into a new relationship.
Discussing the royals, the source told the publication: “[Sarah] has been devastated by recent events, but she’s never going to give up on love”.
They also revealed that Sarah is “open about finding a proper gentleman to help her enjoy life – someone successful, kind and financially secure.
“She’s always been independent, but she knows she’s got expensive taste, and she jokes she needs a man who can keep up.”
Speaking of Beatrice, they added: “She knows her dad would be crushed if Sarah met someone new and fears the thought of being alone will break his heart”.
However, the 37-year-old also “just wants her parents to find their own peace.”
The source concluded: “They’ve been separated for decades, and clinging to the past isn’t healthy”.
