Dies Irae – December 5 (JioHotstar [OTTplay Premium])

Dies Irae is a Malayalam horror thriller about Rohan Shankar, an affluent Indo-American architect who lives a carefree life in his lavish Kerala estate until he finds out that his former classmate and brief flame, Kani, dies by suicide. Feeling a mixture of worry and shame, Rohan pays a visit to Kani’s house and takes her hair clip as a keepsake. Little does he know that this tiny act will set in motion a chain reaction of mysterious occurrences in his home, which he at first attributes to the vengeful spirit of Kani. After talking to his neighbour, the traditional exorcist Madhusudanan Potti, Rohan’s search uncovers a dark situation involving Kani’s stalker, a hidden decaying body, and a desperate mother’s use of black magic that has trapped an angry spirit. Rohan must fight for his life to release the tortured soul and put an end to his haunting.

Gharwali Pedwali is a supernatural family comedy that follows the protagonist, Jeetu Pandey, as he yearns for a monogamous marriage after a life marked by pairs—two mothers, two fathers, and two bosses. On the other hand, he is compelled to carry out a rite by symbolically marrying a sacred peepal tree to rectify a disastrous astrological prediction just before he is to wed his modern fiancée, Savi. Unfortunately, the ritual has the opposite effect of what was intended—it binds the traditional, decades-old ghost Latika to Jeetu as his first supernatural wife. The result sets up a hilarious and chaotic love triangle between Jeetu’s modern, living ‘Gharwali’, Savi, and his traditional, ghostly ‘Pedwali’, Latika.

Jay Kelly – December 5 (Netflix)

Noah Baumbach’s comedy-drama Jay Kelly tells the story of a world-famous, charming, but ageing movie star experiencing a midlife crisis and a persistent feeling of emptiness as he realises his success has come at the expense of his personal relationships, making his life feel hollow. After his youngest daughter rejects his summer vacation plans, George Clooney’s Jay sets off on a spontaneous and meaningful excursion across Europe with Adam Sandler’s Ron, his loyal and patient manager. As Jay faces the emotional fallout of his career-first decisions, he undergoes a personal reckoning. The process includes reconciling with his two estranged daughters and an old friend who accuses him of taking his life. Jay begins to question his true self, the essence of loyalty, and the possibility of altering his life’s and legacy’s trajectory.

The documentary employs a combination of historical footage, expert interviews, first-hand accounts, and dramatic recreations to present a thorough examination of the RSS’ endeavours in educational outreach, community-building, and large-scale relief and social service during critical moments and national crises. The narrative portrays perseverance, unwavering patriotism, and the nation’s development.

Despite his reluctance, Bhaskar complies, and the resultant catastrophe mirrors the girl’s later missing persons report. While Vidaarth’s dogged constable investigates the enigmatic case, Bhaskar, who is unwittingly involved in the child’s disappearance, must bear the weight of guilt and secrets that could destroy his family and cause him to cross the line into criminality. Meanwhile, Esther, Mercy’s distraught mother, desperately seeks answers.

Ultimately, her family develops a genuine new appreciation for each other and for the true meaning of the holiday.

By delving farther into the animal kingdom and including profound mythological allusions—including a reference to Kalbhairav, a manifestation of Lord Shiva linked to destruction and time—this sequel broadens the scope of the story beyond stray dogs. As the novel pursues the topic of animal displacement and the delicate balance of nature, Lubdhak finds himself faced with new adversaries and an intensifying war. His loyalty compels him to persist in his violent struggle as the champion of the voiceless.

The show follows his rise and fall as a public figure, beginning with his time as a talent scout and entrepreneur who established Bad Boy Entertainment, which popularised hip-hop and helped break out artists like Mary J. Blige and The Notorious B.I.G. Witness the disturbing underbelly of his opulent empire as this documentary explores the widespread accusations of sexual assault, coercion, and abuse that persisted for decades. Through exclusive interviews with former collaborators, employees, and childhood friends, as well as never-before-seen materials, the documentary exposes the truth and compels viewers to confront the shadowy side of his life.

Stephen – December 5 (Netflix)

Starring Gomathi Shankar as the titular character, the dark and character-driven Tamil psychological thriller Stephen opens with the protagonist confessing to a string of killings before a police station. The film swiftly transforms from a straightforward criminal story into something more complex when a psychiatrist is brought in to assess the confessed murderer. This initiates a series of intense questioning sessions that blur the boundaries between truth, imagination, guilt, and innocence. The seemingly simple case twists into a complex psychological labyrinth as the psychiatrist delves further into Stephen’s broken mind. This leads her and the audience to wonder if Stephen is a cold-blooded killer, a traumatised victim, or an untrustworthy narrator entangled in a sinister game of manipulation.

The Abandons – December 4 (Netflix)

In a world where justice is beyond the reach of the law, a violent saga of murder, vengeance, a dark secret, and a star-crossed romance unfolds as two families, one tied by blood and riches and the other by love and necessity, collide. This forces everyone involved to test the limits of morality and violence.

To force the Bad Guys to flee, a fearsome trio of female criminals called the “Bad Girls”—led by the snow leopard Kitty Kat—blackmails them into assisting them in stealing MacGuffinite, a metal that attracts gold that can be accessed by the MoonX rocket. A daunting task awaits Mr Wolf and his crew as they embark on an all-out zero-gravity heist to steal the world’s gold.
