Aaron Eckhart Runs & Guns in Director Jesse V. Johnson’s Latest and Relentless Bullet Fest!

Aaron Eckhart is an action star with some serious acting chops. Prove me wrong but it’ll be hard as the hard-working thespian has been putting his body through the ringer in several action pics as of late. From Classified to the Muzzle films, Eckhart brings some serious gravitas to his roles and now he’s teaming up once again with one of the best in the action indie film business. Director, filmmaker and action maestro Jesse V. Johnson is back and he’s delivering another bullet fused epic to put a notch in his filmography arsenal with Thieves Highway which stars Eckhart, who also was featured in Johnson’s Chief of Station, as a lawman who must navigate an unforgiving terrain while battling the worse of the worse when it comes to criminals. After a deadly confrontation, lawman Frank Bennett (Aaron Eckhart) uncovers a massive smuggling ring. Cut off from cell service and stranded without his truck, Frank is forced to take on a dangerous gang led by a deranged ex-military commander. Stopping them before they reach the border isn’t just his duty, it’s his only shot at survival.

Going up against Eckhart with guns a-blazing is tier one genre actor Devon Sawa who plays evil just as good as righteous and here, he looks to be channeling the devil himself. Lochlyn Munro, Darin Cooper, and Lucy Martin also star with Travis Mills penning the script from a story by Mills & J.D. Pepper.

I’m going to be honest and say that I love what Eckhart is doing for the sake of action cinema and when you have a great actor who can carry the theatrics along with the stunts, then you really have something special. Johnson is one of the best in the biz and shooting crime thrillers that harvest a dark energy about them and with action sequences that are always thrilling, violent and chaotic, he definitely deserves all the accolades awarded to him.

Vertical will unleash Thieves Highway in select U.S. theaters on December 12th, 2025, with a Digital & VOD debut arriving shortly after on December 16th!
