Gagasi FM has announced the departure of DJ Vumar from the station.
DJ Vumar, real name Vumar Buthelezi, joined Gagasi FM in 2012 hosting V Sessions and Sunday Sundowners. He has since cemented his name as the host of Sunrise Sessions during weekdays as well as the Dance Cabin at weekends.
“I joined Gagasi FM as a young man and spent my formative years here until I became an experienced broadcaster. Many of the people I’ve met — colleagues and management alike — became friends and even mentors,” said DJ Vumar in a statement.
“The guidance, opportunities and mentorship I received were invaluable, shaping me into the broadcaster I am today. Gagasi FM will always hold a special place in my heart. I will keep everyone in my prayers and will miss the GNation family deeply, especially the unique connection the station has with KZN and its listeners.
“Gagasi FM allowed me to discover who I am and what I am called to do, and for that I am forever grateful.”
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ Vumar said after being involved in a near fatal accident in March on his way to work, he wanted to take a break from the mic.
“I’m taking a break. Maybe next season we can talk. Plus just recovered from a terrible car accident I had in March, a break is well deserved right now.”
