Paul Ben-Victor has joined the cast of Netflix‘s upcoming series adaptation of “The Boys From Brazil.”
Ben-Victor is the latest addition to the cast, which is led by Jeremy Strong and also features Gillian Anderson, Daniel Brühl, August Diehl, Lizzy Caplan, and Shira Haas. The show was formally announced in November and is based on the novel of the same name by Ira Levin. Netflix has ordered five one-hour episodes.
The official logline states:
“Set across three decades from the immediate aftermath of WW2 through the political turbulence of the 1970s, ‘The Boys from Brazil’ follows Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann (Strong), in his lifelong crusade to bring Nazi fugitives to justice, a crusade that has cost him nearly everything. When one of his young protégées undercover in Brazil learns of a shocking Nazi plan, Liebermann is in a race against time to expose an unimaginable truth: Doctor Johann-Friedrich Meinhardt (Diehl), a sadistic Nazi scientist he believed long dead, is alive and orchestrating a diabolical project to spark the rise of a Fourth Reich.”
Ben-Victor will appear in the role of Sidney Beynon, who is a journalist who works with Liebermann in both the novel and the 1978 film version. Denholm Elliot played the character in the film.
Ben-Victor is no stranger to Netflix audiences, as he recently appeared in the hit comedy series “Nobody Wants This” and previously featured in “The Lincoln Lawyer” at the steamer. Ben-Victor is known for his time on the acclaimed HBO series “The Wire” as well as shows like “Entourage, “In Plain Sight,” and “The Chosen.” Next up, he will be seen in the HBO-DC series “Lanterns.” In film, Ben-Victor has been seen in features like “The Irishman” and “Emancipation.”
He is repped by Verve and Alan Siegel Entertainment.
Peter Morgan, known for creating the hit Netflix drama “The Crown,” adapted the book for the small screen and executive produces. Additional executive producers include Suzanne Mackie for Orchid Pictures and Simon Heath for World Productions, part of ITV Studios, as well as Alex Gabassi, who will also direct.
