An Australian reality TV star who appeared on both Married At First Sight and Farmer Wants A Wife has passed away aged 47. Lachlan Rofe, who also used the surname McAleer, was found dead at his home in Cawdor, near Camden in New South Wales, earlier this week.

The cattle farmer’s death was confirmed by his loved ones on social media on Thursday, according to The Courier Mail, with his cause of death yet to be announced. Emergency services were called to a home on Old Razorback Road, Razorback, where they found an unresponsive man, according to a Camden police statement. Paramedics began CPR but were unable to revive him.

“Investigations are continuing into the circumstances and anyone with any information is urged to contact Camden Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” police said.

Who was Lachlan Rofe?

Lachlan Rofe appeared on the inaugural season of MAFS in 2015, where he was paired with Clare Tamas. The series, which featured only four couples in a stripped-back version of the now-controversial reality show, ended with the pair committing to one another at the final decision before splitting after filming wrapped.

Lachlan went on to star as one of the six farmers in Channel 9’s short-lived revival of Farmer Wants A Wife in 2016. He found love with Belinda Reid; however, they announced they had called it quits the day after the finale aired on TV.

Tributes flow for Lachlan Rofe

Tributes have flowed following Lachlan’s sudden passing, with his MAFS co-star Michael O’Dea telling Yahoo Lifestyle it is “very sad news”.

“So sad to hear about the passing of my MAFS mate Lachy. He was a great, genuine guy, easy-going and always there for a laugh. You’ll be missed, mate,” he says.

Fellow season one MAFS participant Roni Azzopardi also tells us she is “shocked” by his passing, adding: “I really didn’t know the guy. It’s very upsetting news for his friends and family.”

“Wow that’s tragic,” fellow MAFS groom Ryan Donnelly commented on social media. “I was born in Camden, very sad to lose a local so young RIP”.

“How sad. Condolences to his family and friends,” someone else wrote, while another said, “Love to the McAleer family, Lachlan loved that farm more than life itself. I’m saddened to hear this news”.

Lachlan made headlines in 2017 following his reality TV appearances when he was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Casey Williams. He appealed the verdict after being placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond, and the charges were overturned.
