THE road car which Mark Skaife was given as prize for winning his first Australian Touring Car Championship is hitting the market.

Mark Hocking Special Vehicles has announced it is overseeing the sale of the stunning ‘red pearl metallic’ Nissan Skyline GT-R, which previously belonged to Skaife and is one of just 96 road-registered examples, early next year.

With only 15,313km on the odometer, this particular car came into Skaife’s possession as a reward from Gibson Motorsport boss Fred Gibson for winning the 1992 title.

That year, Skaife got the job done by 20 points over Nissan teammate Jim Richards.

He went on to win another four championships, all in Holdens: one more for Gibson Motorsport (1994) before his Holden Racing Team three-peat (2000-02).

Skaife continues to have a presence in the sport as a prominent broadcaster.

No price tag has been outlined yet for the GT-R, with further details promised to come in due course.
