The Society of Composers & Lyricists has cued up the nominees for its seventh annual SCL Awards, which will be handed out in February. Up for the marquee Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film prize are Ludwig Göransson (Sinners), Alexandre Desplat (Frankenstein), Jonny Greenwood (One Battle After Another), Stephen Schwartz & John Powell (Wicked: For Good), Max Richter (Hamnet) and Jerskin Fendrix (Bugonia).

Up for Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film are Dara Taylor (Straw), Bryce Dessner (Train Dreams), David Fleming (Eternity), Fabrizio Mancinelli (Out of the Nest), Jónsi & Alex Sommers (Rental Family) and Sara Barone & Robert Christenson (To Kill a Wolf).

The Original Song categories are stacked with big names including Diane Warren (“Dear Me” from Diane Warren: Relentless), Raphael Saadiq & Ludwig Göransson (“I Lied To You” from Sinners), Sara Bareilles (“Salt Then Sour Then Sweet” from Come See Me in the Good Light), Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin & John Mayer (“Drive” from F1), along with EJAE & Mark Sonnenblick for the smash pop single “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters.

The White Lotus‘ Cristobal Tapia De Veer is the lone double nominee this year. Others up for TV prizes include the composers behind such hit shows as Severance, The Studio, Andor, All Her Fault and The Last of Us.

SCL Awards

Winners will be named during the SCL Awards ceremony on February 6 at Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The Bacon Brothers — Kevin Bacon and Michael Bacon — will host the event, which will feature a performance by Grammy-winning singer Melissa Manchester. Göransson and director Ryan Coogler, who’ve worked together on Sinners and the Black Panther and Creed films, will receive the SCL’s Spirit of Collaboration Award.
