The expanded recall covers two homeopathic nasal sprays that may contain mold and microbial contamination.
WASHINGTON — A nasal spray recall has been expanded after further testing found additional contamination concerns, the FDA said Tuesday.
Albuquerque-based MediNatura New Mexico, Inc. is now voluntarily recalling all lots of ReBoost Nasal Spray to the consumer level after the product was found to contain yeast and mold, as well as microbial contamination with the species identified as Achromobacter, at levels above acceptable limits.
The company is also recalling all lots of ClearLife Allergy Nasal Spray after further investigation revealed microbial contamination that may also be linked to Achromobacter.Â
Earlier this month, the company recalled a single lot of ReBoost Nasal Spray due to microbial contamination. MediNatura said the expanded recall was initiated following additional internal testing.
The contamination poses a serious risk for certain users. The company warned the contamination could lead to adverse health effects, including life-threatening infections in immunocompromised individuals. As of now, MediNatura said it has not received any reports of health incidents related to either product.
