THE car behind the final two race wins of Colin Bond’s illustrious ATCC career will feature in New Zealand’s 2026 Historic Touring Cars field.
The Caltex-liveried Ford Sierra RS500 chalked up 80 starts in the hands of Bond, including for his third-place finish with Alan Jones in the 1988 Great Race.
Renowned for his versatile prowess, Bond’s final two ATCC wins both came in 1990, at Lakeside and Mallala.
This very car notably popped up at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000, driven by Chris Stillwell in the V8 Sleuth Heritage Revival category.
The 2026 HTCNZ will involve two stops at Ruapuna Raceway, including on the support card for Supercars’ inaugural ITM Christchurch Super440 on April 17-19.
