Photos from the scene posted on Facebook showed multiple vehicles stopped behind the flipped car.
Another crash occurred at about 4.05pm today in Brown’s Bay on the North Shore after a vehicle struck a power pole and brought the lines down on Browns Bay Rd
“There are no reports of any injuries, but the road is blocked due to the lines down, and cordons are in place,” police said.
“The power company has been notified.”
Traffic was halted on Birkenhead’s Waipa Street after a car hit a parked vehicle.
A two-vehicle crash this afternoon caused traffic delays along Great North Rd.
Police were alerted to the incident at the intersection of Kirby St and Great North Rd at around 12.50pm.
One of the vehicles involved was left in the middle of the road while another had spun onto a berm, blocking the footpath.
Hato Hone St John said it sent one ambulance to the scene, where the crew assessed and treated one patient in a minor condition.
A Herald reporter at the site said traffic heading westward towards Henderson was diverted along an alternative route, while New Lynn-bound traffic was restricted to one lane.
