Timothy Busfield surrenders to police over child sex abuse allegations

  • January 14, 2026

“I’m going to confront these lies, they’re horrible,” Busfield says in the video.

“They are all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys. And I’m going to fight it. I’m going to fight it with a great team, and I’m going to be exonerated. I know I am because this is all so wrong and all lies.

“So hang in there, and hopefully I’m out real soon and back to work. I love everybody for supporting me.”

He has not yet been charged with any crimes.

An officer reportedly spoke with two parents who claimed that their children were actors on the Fox series The Cleaning Lady in 2024.

Busfield, who worked on the programme from 2022 to 2025 as a director, allegedly “grew closer to the boys” during their time shooting the show together.

The star, 68, allegedly told the kids to call him “Uncle Tim” and tickled them on their stomach and legs, per the warrant filed by Albuquerque police on January 4.

Hospital staff reportedly told the responding officers that it appeared the children had been groomed.

According to court documents, one of the child actors told a therapist that Busfield touched his “genitalia” and “bottom” while in a bedroom on the set of the TV show, had issues with bed-wetting and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, and suffered from nightmares about the incidents.

Busfield allegedly told investigators when being questioned: “I don’t remember overtly tickling the boys ever, but it wouldn’t be uncommon for me.”

Warner Bros launched their own investigation into the alleged incidents following an anonymous tip.

Fox and Warner Bros have since released a statement saying they are co-operating with law enforcement.

“The health and safety of our cast and crew is always our top priority, especially the safety of minors on our productions,” said the Hollywood studios.

“We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and have systems in place to promptly and thoroughly investigate and, when needed, take appropriate action,” they added.

“We are aware of the current charges against Mr Busfield and have been and will continue to co-operate with law enforcement.”

Busfield is known for appearances in The West Wing, Field of Dreams, and Thirtysomething, the latter of which won him an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series in 1991. He is married to actress Melissa Gilbert.
