Western Australian surfing golden couple Taj and Rebecca Burrow are facing mounting rumours their seven-year marriage is over – just months after the pair declared their love for one another on a romantic Maldives getaway.
The Yallingup surf king and one of WA’s favourite sons is believed to have quietly parted ways with his model wife and the mother of his two children, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit South West scene.
Whispers of trouble in paradise began when Rebecca, who shot to fame on the fourth cycle of Australia’s Next Top Model in 2008, reverted to her maiden name, Jobson, across social media in recent months.
When asked about her name change and the rumours surrounding her marriage split, Rebecca made no denials but politely declined to comment.
‘No thank you,’ she told the Daily Mail.
The twice-married couple first tied the knot in an intimate elopement in late 2018, after Burrow, 47, proposed with a Burger Ring. They arranged the ceremony quickly in order to include Bec’s mother, who was terminally ill.

They would later stage a star-studded knees-up in the Margaret River wine region in February 2019, with friends flying in from around the globe for the lavish celebration at Caves Road Collective (then known as Black Brewing Co.) in Wilyabrup, WA.
The guest list included Grammy-nominated DJ Fisher and his wife Chloe, nightclub wrangler Shane Moran, and fellow Top Model alum Montana Cox.
Rebecca announced the wedding on Instagram with gushing words and a gallery of dreamy photos.
‘My heart is so full,’ she wrote at the time.
‘I can’t believe how lucky I am to have struck gold like this. So thankful for all of these special, special humans.’
The couple had gone public with their romance in 2014, before welcoming their first child the following year. They now share two children, Arabella Rose and two-year-old Robbie Lou, and had been seen as one of WA’s most popular couples.
More recently, Rebecca ramped up her travel, appearing in photos with socialite Jade Yarborough, AFL WAG Jessie Murphy and interior designer Chloe Matters.
The former Bondi model, originally from Wollongong, has also been building her empire as the founder of gender-neutral clothing label Moda Mitsu.

Interestingly, an article by Beauticate published last August shaved seven years off her age, reporting it as 29, despite it being widely understood she is 36.
Of course, this may have simply been a typo by the journalist.
She last made headlines in 2021 for her commentary on the COVID-19 vaccine, saying that Australians who did not want to be vaccinated – who were facing criticism from some in the community at the time – still cared ‘about the state of… the world’.
‘Just because people are advocates for medical freedom and are against restrictions being made to our civil human rights because we are not willing to take a vaccine that is still in trial, does not mean they don’t also care about the state of the rest of the world,’ she wrote.
Meanwhile, Taj was last in the news when he joined the WA surf community in protesting a proposed real estate development in front of a popular Yallingup surf spot.
He said the developers ‘didn’t have a clue’ how the project would affect the swell and risked ruining ‘one of our best surfing beaches down here’.
Taj Burrow was contacted for comment.
