Mila Kunis is set to star in and produce Nightwatching, an adaptation of Tracy Sierra’s 2024 thriller novel of the same name, Deadline reports.
Adam Schindler & Brian Netto (Don’t Move) will direct, with production slated to begin at the end of the month as part of California’s tax incentive program.
Laura Moss & Brendan J. O’Brien (Birth/Rebirth) wrote the original screenplay with a current draft by T.J Cimfel & David White (Don’t Move).
The story follows follows Lee, a mother who wakes to an intruder in her home during a relentless winter storm. In a single instant, what should have been an ordinary night unravels into a fight for survival.
As she struggles to protect her children, Lee is drawn into a harrowing game of doubt and danger, one that leaves her questioning not only who has entered her home, but what they truly want.
Producers include Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Sam Roston for Scott Free Productions, Erik Feig, Jessica Switch and Emily Wissink for Picturestart and Kunis and Lisa Sterbakov for Kunis’ newly branded Brick for Sheep.
Graham Taylor and Christopher Slager will executive produce for Fifth Season, who is also financing the film. Justin Alvarado Brown will executive produce for Scott Free, with Roston and Avital Siegel overseeing for the company.
CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are representing the domestic distribution rights. Amazon MGM Studios will distribute internationally.
