RICHIE Stanaway’s duties at the Blanchard Racing Team will extend beyond the confines of the physical racetrack.

The Kiwi will partner former teammate James Golding in the #7 Mustang at this year’s The Bend 500 and Bathurst 1000, but his involvement in the team is set to go deeper.

“He has been really good since he has been in. He is going to do a lot of simulator stuff with us, which is kind of his forte,” team manager Kate Harrington told V8 Sleuth.

“We want to develop more – we’re quite basic in the engineering at the moment but we want to develop simulation and that sort of stuff so that we can compete with the bigger teams.

“We just roughly spoke about it and he was like that’s something he’s really interested in, and he has done obviously a lot of it overseas in Formula 1 and other categories, so it will be a really good advantage for us to utilise him in that space as well.”

The 34-year-old’s Supercars enduro co-driving resume includes victories in the 2017 Sandown 500 and 2023 Great Race.

Stanaway competed full-time last year for PremiAir Racing and is due for his first BRT drive at the Sydney Motorsport Park pre-season test on February 18.
