The next Saw wants to interrogate one of Jigsaw’s oldest philosophies. Diane Lane is joining Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist movie. Plus, get a look at what’s coming on this week’s Starfleet Academy. Spoilers, away!

Spider-Man
A rumor from Daniel Richtman (via Comicbook) alleges that, after a string of misfires (Madame Web innocent), Sony is potentially now more open to working with Marvel Studios on allowing the MCU to use some of the Spider-Man characters it owns the adaptive rights to.
The Exorcist: Martyr

Deadpool 4

Saw 12
In a recent interview with Letterboxd, James Wan revealed Saw 12 will take Jigsaw’s philosophy of ignoring “scumbag(s)” who still “appreciate life” to task.
Leigh and I both want to recapture the spirit of that first film and revisit Jigsaw’s philosophy, which is that he goes after people who don’t appreciate their lives. If you’re a scumbag, but you appreciate your life, he doesn’t see you as someone who’s wasting your life, so I want to go back to what we touched on in the first movie with regard to that.
At the same time, I want to honor what people have come to love about the franchise, whilst trying to do something fresh and new that we haven’t seen before.
Later in the interview, Wan erroneously calls the film “the eleventh installment” of the franchise, possibly casting Spiral: From the Book of Saw into the realm of franchise apocrypha.
This next movie would be the eleventh installment, and there’ve been lots of films in this world. We need to do something different in order to reach out to a new generation that didn’t grow up with it.
Untitled 70’s Horror Reboot
In another recent interview with MovieWeb, Madelaine Petsch revealed she’s attached to a remake of a “deep cut” 70’s horror film still trying to acquire funding.
There’s one film from the ’70s that I really want to remake, but I’m in the process of figuring that out so I don’t want to say it yet. But I’m really excited about it if it happens. It’s so cool. I don’t know how no one’s remade it yet. t’s kind of like a deep cut though. I hadn’t heard about it until very recently, and then I watched it and I was like, ‘This is crazy! I have to remake this.’
