A body has been found at a beach in Napier.

Police were notified that a body was seen off the water off The Esplanade, Westshore, around 8.25pm yesterday.

Police and Coastguard conducted a search, and the body was found just before 1.30am.

A formal identification process is
underway, and the death will be referred to the coroner, a police spokesperson said.
