A PAIR of Walkinshaw-built Commodores won’t be lost to the Super2 field after all, thanks to a late lease deal struck with Matt Chahda Motorsport.

The team now known as Walkinshaw TWG Racing has withdrawn from Super2 as it instead ups the ante on its Toyota 86 program, in addition to its Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood-driven main game Supras.

The Holdens it ran last year in Super2 for Matt Hillyer and Campbell Logan are now destined to underpin MCM’s return to the series.

“We love the category, we love being involved,” said team owner Amin Chahda.

“It’s the best form of racing as far as I’m concerned. It’s so competitive, it keeps everyone on their toes.”

Eighteen cars were initially anticipated for this month’s Dunlop Series opener at Sydney Motorsport Park, but a two-pronged MCM attack is set to bump that grid figure up to 20.

Super2 stalwart Matt Chahda will return after sitting out the entire 2025 season, with the team’s second driver still to be announced.

Chahda will steer WR 018. Campaigned last year by Hillyer, that chassis’ 157th and final main game race came in the form of a Chahda/Jaylyn Robotham wildcard in the 2022 Bathurst 1000.

Logan’s 2025 car was chassis WR 031, built brand-new for last season.

The Chahdas also have a Brad Jones Racing-built ZB Commodore and an ex-Tickford Racing Mustang at their disposal, although repairs remain ongoing for the latter.

MCM, which has interest in exploring another Supercars wildcard, recently relocated within the Albury region to a fresh premises.

Hillyer and Logan have both found new homes for Super2 2026, at BJR and Tickford respectively.
