Two people have been injured and a section of the Main Highway in Auckland’s Ellerslie is closed after a serious crash before rush hour this afternoon.
Police said the two-vehicle crash, which was reported at 3.37pm, occurred near the busy intersection with the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway.
One person has been critically injured, and another seriously injured.
The road is closed between the intersections of Ellerslie-Panmure Highway and Amy St.
“Police recognise this will cause serious disruption to travel through the area.”
It asked people avoid the area if possible and to expect delays.
“Closures are expected for a few hours this evening.”
A St John spokesperson told 1News it was called to the scene at 3.36pm, responding with two ambulances, one manager and one rapid response vehicle.
One person has been taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.
The serious crash unit will attend the scene to carry out inquiries, police added.
