SIMONA De Silvestro’s Olympic dream is underway, with the former Supercars racer competing overnight in Milano Cortina 2026.

The first component of De Silvestro’s Winter Olympics campaign in the woman’s bobsleigh is the individual monobob discipline.

The opening two heats have now been run and done, with Laura Nolte of Germany atop the standings.

De Silvestro is provisionally 22nd overall with an aggregate time 2.72s adrift of Nolte.

Born in Switzerland but representing Italy, De Silvestro placed 23rd in Heat 1 and 19th in Heat 2.

Another two heats are to come to form the final standings, with those to be held from 5am AEDT tomorrow. Television coverage in Australia of the event is via the Nine Network and Stan Sport.

De Silvestro will also contest the two-woman bobsleigh alongside Giada Andreutti later this week.

De Silvestro has made 91 race starts in the Supercars Championship across 2015-23. That span was bookended by one-off Bathurst 1000 appearances for Ford teams Tickford Racing and Dick Johnson Racing, with the remaining 89 coming in Kelly Racing Nissan Altimas.
