Meghan Markle’s father is continuing to recover after emergency surgery two months ago to amputate part of his leg.
Markle, 81, was hospitalised in the Philippines, where he now lives, in December 2025 after a blood clot in his left thigh cut off the blood supply to his foot, leaving doctors no choice but to amputate his leg below the knee to save his life.
Now his son Thomas Markle Jnr has revealed in a YouTube video that it is hoped his father will soon have a prosthetic leg fitted, and claimed Meghan had not contributed to their father’s mounting medical bills.

Markle Jnr was speaking on his YouTube channel The real Thomas Markle, Junior and friends when he called out his younger half-sister.
“It’s just mind-boggling how you could just continue to walk through life and not even give the man a phone call and pay for the best medical care that dad needs right now,” Markle Jnr said.
“He’s going through therapy, he’s going through physical rehab and we are going to have to get him fitted for a prosthetic here pretty soon and get that man walking again.
“That’s the goal, that’s the priority.

”I hope next time, Meghan, that you see a disabled person or somebody who has only one leg, I hope you think real hard.”
Meghan and her father have been estranged since the lead-up to her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry over allegations he was selling stories to the press.
Markle Snr was meant to walk his daughter down the aisle but pulled out after suffering a heart attack, and has never met Prince Harry or the couple’s two children.

Meghan came under fire after news broke that Thomas Markle was battling for his life in intensive care when it was alleged she had not tried to make contact with her father, who begged his daughter to see him “one more time before I die”.
A spokesperson for the Duchess later confirmed that Meghan had made contact with her estranged father via a letter which was delivered to Thomas Markle’s bedside as he recovered in hospital in the Philippines after surgery to amputate his leg.

But now Markle Jnr has claimed Meghan has not made any payments towards his medical care, which he said was not covered by insurance.
