A knife was recovered by police after a “serious assault” in Auckland’s CBD last night that left one person in a critical condition.
Police were called to Lorne St, outside Auckland’s Central City Library, at around 10.20pm on Friday.
St John said two ambulances, a rapid response unit and a manager responded.
“Our crews assessed and treated two patients, one in a critical condition and one in a serious condition, who were transported to Auckland City Hospital,” a St John spokesperson said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ash Matthews said a knife was recovered and a 65-year-old man was arrested. at the scene.
He appeared in the Auckland District Court today on two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was granted interrim name suppression.
Cordons remained in place this morning, and a scene examination would be carried out.
