Local iwi Te Roroa advised the rāhui applies for about 2.5km from the Mahuta Gap entrance, extending towards Glinks Gully.
The rāhui will be in place until 7am on Monday, March 2, and local iwi and hapū have expressed their sincere condolences to the families affected.
The Serious Crash Unit has examined the scene, and the death will be referred to the coroner.
