FOR Roland Dane, the equation at PremiAir Racing is simple.

In the eyes of the man who led Triple Eight to Supercars powerhouse status, PremiAir is straight-up capable of contending for top 10s from the get-go.

It’s just all about mistake minimisation.

“We’ve got potential but we have got to not make mistakes,” was Dane’s assessment after his first round officially at the helm of the Peter Xiberras-owned outfit.

“If we don’t make mistakes, then we’re there or thereabouts in the top 10.

“So we just can’t make mistakes and unfortunately both big races (in Sydney) we made errors.

“That’s the nature of it.

“Hopefully what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

PremiAir was notably at the centre of pitlane chaos in Race 2 at Sydney, with Jayden Ojeda’s Camaro losing a wheel upon being released.

The team then made a wet-weather gamble in the Sunday race which ultimately backfired.

Fiercely loyal to General Motors, Dane had this to say about Chevrolet’s early breakthrough via Anton De Pasquale in a season where some were tipping a Ford whitewash: “It was a properly deserved win.

“But the Ford teams have got strength in depth, that’s the issue for all of us.”

Chevrolet is unbeaten in 11 Gen3 Supercar races to date at Albert Park.

The 2026 Melbourne SuperSprint starts tomorrow.
