THE 2026 Australian Grand Prix has started with a bang, with the Porsche Carrera Cup’s open practice session red-flagged due to a significant crash for Sonic Motor Racing Service’s Marcos Flack.
The incident occurred on the out lap from the pits exiting the fast turn 10 chicane on the back straight.
Flack emerged from the wreck uninjured, with the incident realigning several concrete blocks.

The incident wasn’t the only one to take place on the outlap, with Stephen Grove returning to the pits with smoke pouring from the right-front corner of his car.
On track today at Albert Park, the Carrera Cup and Supercars are alternating sessions throughout the day, culminating in the opening races for each class this evening.
The first practice session for the Supercars is scheduled for 10:35am AEDT.
