Tom Holland revealed in an interview with LADbible that he took deep dives on the internet to understand what exactly Spider-Man man fans wanted to see in his latest outing as Marvel’s iconic web-slinger, then took he these fan ideas directly to studio executives. Holland is currently in production on “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which marks his seventh appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his fourth standalone Spider-Man movie.

“What’s been really fun about this most recent movie is designing the suit and being a part of that process and understanding what we wanted to try and achieve,” Holland said about having greater involvement in the movie’s development this time around.

“I have been actively sifting through the internet and trying to best understand what it is that the fans want from a ‘Spider-Man’ movie, and that’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings,” he added. “I think the producers, at times were like, absolutely sick of me, but I think it’s really important, because we make these movies for [the fans].”

Production on “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” kicked off in Glasglow, Scotland this summer to much fanfare, as Holland was seen shooting an action seen on location.

“Yesterday, I was on top of a tank driving down the high street in Glasgow, in front of thousands of fans, and it was awesome,” Holland recently told AFP. “It was so incredible, it was exciting, and exhilarating, and it felt fresh.”

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously dabbled in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” Holland is being joined by Marvel vets Jon Bernthal as Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, plus returning franchise players Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. New cast members include Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to open in theaters July 31 from Sony.
