We’re only three months into 2026, and there’s already a winner for the wildest sci-fi movie of the year. This masterpiece premiered last year, but it wasn’t released theatrically until last month. Directed by the filmmaker behind the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, it hasn’t been much of a hit at the box office despite its phenomenal premise, but that certainly won’t stop audiences from checking it out once it lands on streaming. In the meantime, the sci-fi film has officially arrived on digital and also has a physical release date set for a few weeks away.
Featuring elements of artificial intelligence, the most bonkers sci-fi movie of 2026 is Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. The film premiered on September 24, 2025, at the Fantastic Fest and later hit U.S. theaters on February 13, 2026, courtesy of Briarcliff Entertainment. Upon its release, it received positive reviews from critics, earning a 83% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85% audience score. Unfortunately, its finances aren’t so impressive: the comedy has grossed $8 million worldwide against a $20 million budget.
Directed by Gore Verbinski and written by Matthew Robinson, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is now available to stream for $19.99 on Google Play, Amazon Prime, and Fandango at Home. Meanwhile, for those who await its physical release, it will become available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 21, 2026. The film stars Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, Asim Chaudhry, Tom Taylor, and Juno Temple.

In Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, a man from the future, portrayed by Rockwell, arrives at a diner in Los Angeles at 10:10 PM, announcing that he is there to save the world and needs volunteers to join him. He believes a specific combination of diner patrons will help him combat a rogue artificial intelligence, but he has no idea which combination is correct; this is his 117th attempt, as the others have failed. His knowledge of patrons convinces some that he is telling the truth. With that, he’s able to compel Scott (Chaudhry), Bob (Daniel Barnett), Marie (Georgia Goodman), and a couple, Mark (Peña) and Janet (Beetz), to join. Susan (Temple) and Ingrid (Richardson) volunteer, and the man initially rejects Ingrid but changes his mind. Police soon surround the diner, and Bob is unfortunately killed, while the rest of the group escapes.
