UPMC alerts patients to potential data breach

There are new security concerns at one of the Susquehanna Valley’s biggest health care systems. UPMC is notifying patients that their medical records may have been improperly accessed by Health Gorilla, a national network used to exchange medical information.UPMC said it is notifying patients who it believes were impacted.While Social Security numbers were not accessed, names, ages, diagnoses and medical history information could have been compromised.UPMC reported the incident to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
