Queen Mary of Denmark and her husband, King Frederik X are in Australia this week on a royal tour—one that has special meaning for the queen, who was, herself, born and raised in the country. The tour marks Mary’s first return to Australia since she became queen in 2024, and, appropriately, she’s been turning to some of her much-loved closet pieces for the trip, including a floral pink dress by Aussie brand Zimmermann that has proven to be one of her go-tos over the years.

For a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, Mary chose an aptly floral frock in tones of pink and beige, with a deep V neck, breezy, ruffled sleeves, and whimsical pom-pom details around the hems.

The Kaleidoscope Midi Dress has been part of the queen’s wardrobe since at least 2022, when she donned the look for a snap during the royal family’s Christmastime trip to Tasmania. She wore it again in 2023 for the confirmation for her nephew, Henrik, Count of Monpezat, who is the youngest son of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie. While the brand no longer makes the style, the Australian label has plenty of similar stylish pink dresses.

It’s not the only well-loved Zimmermann piece the queen has opted for this trip. For a welcome ceremony in Canberra, Mary donned a green floral midi dress from the brand in their Everley style—she’d previously worn it in Samsø last year during her and Frederik’s summer tour of Denmark.

The style has a similar silhouette to the Kaleidoscope, featuring a plunging neckline and button front details, with a fitted waistline and puff sleeves.
