The fire on Napier Hill could be seen across the city.

A large fire has broken out in a house on Napier Hill.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 8.15pm, with the blaze visible across large parts of the city.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokeswoman said four fire trucks, three from Napier and one from Hastings, had largely
contained the fire by 8.50pm.

All people living in the house had been accounted for, the spokeswoman said.
