The Marvel Cinematic Universe has crossed a new record, as one of the newest additions to the franchise is set to have more adventures.
Following the release of season 1 in January 2026, Marvel Studios has officially announced that they have renewed Wonder Man season 2 on Disney+, which will bring back Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams. Destin Daniel Cretton and Wonder Man showrunner Andrew Guest are both set to return as executive producers, as Disney and Marvel Studios have also confirmed that Sir Ben Kingsley will reprise the role of Trevor Slattery.
The Wonder Man TV show officially becomes the third live-action series in the MCU timeline to get a season 2 renewal from the Disney+ era of Marvel shows, following Tom Hiddleston’s Loki series, as well as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again, which is about to premiere its second season on March 24. Marvel Studios has, thus far, handed out more renewals to their animated properties, from What If…?, X-Men ’97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Why Wonder Man Season 2 Is Happening
Over the last few years, Marvel Television has restructured how it produces and navigates the TV side of the MCU franchise. As Daredevil: Born Again went through a creative overhaul, future projects would be eyed to run for several seasons, and it’s key to remember that Wonder Man was developed pre-restructure.
But following Wonder Man’s tremendous critical reception, both from critics and audience members, it’s not a shock that Marvel Studios decided to greenlight season 2. At the time of this story’s publication, the series is still holding a solid 91% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, while trending at 87% on the Popcornmeter.
The Wonder Man episode 8 ending also left the door perfectly open for a natural continuation, as Simon and Trevor are now on the run. Cretton, who is becoming a staple in the MCU, has continued to succeed since he joined Marvel Studios, from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opens in theaters this summer.
The show, which was produced under the Marvel Spotlight banner, meaning it’s more self-contained while still being in the MCU franchise, is more than likely going to continue in that direction. That was one of the many reasons why critics and audience members responded so well to Wonder Man season 1.
When Will Wonder Man Season 2 Be Released?

Following the Wonder Man season 2 confirmation, there is no word on when future episodes will be released, as Marvel Studios and Disney+ have not set a release window yet. Given that scripts are likely in the early stages of being written right now, production would probably happen sometime later in 2026 or early 2027.
At the earliest, Wonder Man season 2 will likely arrive sometime in 2027, meaning it would join the already confirmed Daredevil: Born Again season 3, which has entered production. However, it is also possible that the next season of Abdul-Mateen II’s superhero project could be held until after the completion of Phase 6, which will end with Avengers: Secret Wars next December, and make sure it’s part of Phase 7, starting in 2028.
