Main street closed in central Christchurch after emergency response

Emergency services are at the scene of an incident in central Christchurch, where a main street has been closed.

Police were called to Hereford Street just after 3.30pm.

Police and St John ambulances are at the scene, and the street has been cordoned off between Manchester Street and Colombo Street.

A police spokesperson said they were at the scene and there was no risk to the public and were unable to provide further details.

The road was expected to be closed for some time.
