Britain’s Got Talent viewers were left puzzled by Simon Cowell‘s surprising response to one performance, with some claiming “he’s lost the plot”.
During Saturday evening’s (March 28) instalment of the ITV talent competition, judges Simon, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and KSI faced another packed schedule as they continued their search for Britain’s next star performer.
Tonight’s hopefuls pulled out all the stops to wow the panel and secure the £250,000 prize money along with a coveted slot at the Royal Variety Performance.
But it was one particular performance that got everyone talking when distinctive musical ensemble Arubai from Japan appeared on stage.
The group reimagined one of Queen’s most iconic songs in a style never before seen on the BGT platform, delivering Don’t Stop Me Now as a Japanese punk number, reports Belfast Live.

Upon their entrance, Amanda enquired: “Hello. Where are you from?” A group member responded: “We are our music group from Japan.” The audience applauded as Amanda went on: “Thank you so much for flying all the way. Do you think you can win?” The ensemble answered: “Yes. Our dream is to do a war tour.”
Confusion reigned as the performers morphed into human-sized musical instruments. Observing from the wings, Ant questioned: “What is going on?” Amanda could be heard exclaiming: “What the heck is this?”
Several judges appeared unconvinced by the performance, with KSI being the first to hit his buzzer. Dec quipped: “Well, they wanted to see something they had never seen before.” Amanda and Alesha swiftly followed suit by hitting their buzzers.

Surprisingly, Simon was the sole judge who seemed to be relishing the performance as he moved to the music.
After the act concluded, Alesha confessed: “My ears are bleeding.” KSI interjected: “I hope I never have to see that again.” Simon countered: “This is something that will grow on you, I promise you.
“I think we have witnessed the birth of something new. So, you’re Japanese, that was punk, it’s junk.”
Simon acknowledged: “However, I actually quite liked it because it was so crazy. Does anybody else like them?” He was the sole judge to vote yes, and that particular moment caught viewers’ attention as they immediately took to social media to express their reactions.
One fan posted on X: “wtf has happened to Simon he’s lost the plot #bgt.” Another queried: “Simon liked it.? #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”
A third enquired: “Has someone spiked his coffee or something? #BGT.” Another remarked: “Wow Simon said yes. The others said no to Arubai – Ruth #BGT.”
Meanwhile, one viewer observed: “20 years ago, Simon would tell them to f*** off. Now he’s laughing.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs Saturday nights on ITV and ITVX.
