Medical professionals were summoned to provide assistance after a celebrity encountered a kitchen mishap during the most recent episode of Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer. The new series of Celebrity Bake Off commenced this month, introducing a new guest judge to the tent. Earlier this year, it was revealed that pastry chef Cherish Finden would be assuming judging responsibilities for this charity series in support of Stand Up to Cancer.
The new judge is joined by Paul Hollywood and hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, as a fresh group of celebrities dons their aprons and settles into their temporary workstations.
Tonight’s episode (Sunday, March 29) saw JoJo Siwa enter the tent alongside Molly Mae Hague, Richard Herring and Babatunde Aléshé, as they were tasked with creating decorated traybakes and tarte tatin, while also replicating their childhood toys in biscuit form. A strong initial round witnessed Molly Mae construct a carrot patch traybake, earning her a Hollywood handshake from an impressed Paul, while Babatunde also secured a handshake with his caramel traybake, according to the Mirror.
Richard crafted an apple and pistachio traybake as JoJo, who initially seemed to be struggling, rallied with her rainbow confetti cake.
However, it was during the second round that medical personnel were needed to step in following one star’s unfortunate kitchen incident.
The Celebrity Bake Off participants were tasked with creating a tarte tatin, which required impeccable preparation of caramel, apples and puff pastry to achieve the perfect taste and texture.
While the puff pastry was in the oven, it was comedian and writer Richard Herring whose preparations were momentarily disrupted after he appeared to injure himself while chopping his apples.
Viewers heard an “ouch” before the camera panned to Richard, who confirmed he had indeed cut himself. Alison Hammond joked: “It’s all going off, the medics are in”, as a healthcare professional was seen tending to Richard’s injury.
Richard retorted: “I spill blood to win bake off.”
Soon enough, Richard, with his finger bandaged in a plaster, resumed his baking as he and the other contestants aimed to impress the judges.
After three challenging rounds, it was Molly Mae who emerged victorious this evening as she exclaimed: “I’m so high up in the sky right now I could cry.”
Paul Hollywood observed that the former Love Island star prevailed for being the “most consistent” throughout the three tasks.
