A Hato Hone St John spokeswoman said: “Our crew treated one patient in a critical condition and transported them to Hawke’s Bay Hospital”.
Kemsley said police believe the two incidents were unrelated.
Police would now like to hear from anyone with information, including any CCTV, dashcam, or video footage.
“We are working to determine what has exactly occurred, however, we would like to speak with anyone who has information that can assist in our enquiries.”
