It’s shaping up to be a big year for Anya Taylor-Joy, who returns to the big screen this weekend with her first big release of 2026, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Taylor-Joy reprises her role as Princess Peach in the film opposite Chris Pratt as Mario, and last week it was even confirmed that Glen Powell will provide the voice for Star Fox. This summer, Taylor-Joy will return to Apple TV after working on The Gorge for a new series, Lucky, which has already been set for release on July 15. She’ll close out the year by starring as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Three, the film in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-trilogy. The film will be released later this year on December 18, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday.
As Taylor-Joy continues to branch out with new projects, she has steadily established herself as one of the most talented performers working in Hollywood. This doesn’t always translate to success at the box office, though, as evidenced by her 2024 sci-fi film with Chris Hemsworth, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The 148-minute epic is a prequel to Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron’s 2015 sci-fi movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Taylor-Joy takes over the same role played by Theron in the original film. Warner Bros. invested over $150 million in the making of Furiosa, which turned out to be a mistake, when the film grossed only $175 million at the global box office. It’s been rewriting history since it left theaters, though, continuing to dominate watchlists as one of the most popular movies on HBO Max. The film was written and directed by George Miller.

Who Else Stars in ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’?
In addition to Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Chris Pratt as Mario, and Glen Powell as Star Fox, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also stars Jack Black as Bowser, Brie Larson as Rosalina, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Charlie Day as Luigi, Donald Glover as Yoshi, Issa Rae as Honey Queen, and more. Matthew Fogel wrote the script for the film, which is being directed by Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Pierre Leduc, and Fabien Polack. It’s a direct sequel to the 2023 film, which is currently streaming on Peacock.
