A report of a person with a weapon sparked a police callout in Tauranga.
Police were called to Cameron Rd near Tauranga Girls’ College after a firearm sighting was reported by a member of the public at 10.25am.
Police said they are now speaking with a person
and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
It comes just weeks after a person was taken into custody near Tauranga Girls’ College on March 17 after allegedly being found with a weapon.
The incident prompted a brief lockdown, with teachers rushing students inside as police arrived.
The knife was recovered by officers, and the lockdown was lifted shortly after.
