Former Home And Away star Tammin Sursok has broken down in tears in an emotional video as she experiences a setback in her career.

The Aussie actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that she was once again overlooked for a TV role, which she tearfully said has become the story of her life.

“I just got word I didn’t get an acting job that I was down to the wire for, the lead in a TV show. This happens a lot,” she said in the video. “The amount of times it’s been like me and another girl – my whole career.”

In the clip, the 42-year-old sits on the steps of an Aussie beach, which appears to be in Sydney as a local bus could be seen driving behind her at one stage.

“It’s just harder than you think,” Sursok continued as tears rolled down her face. “And people think like, ‘Oh just get on a show or get on, like, do a film.’ It’s not that easy.”

“And for me it’s always down to the last two.”

Sursok’s industry peers were quick to rally around the star with words of encouragement and empathy.

“Been there. It will happen. But yes it hurts. And then one day…” Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross wrote in the comments section.

“Feel you sister – sending you love and I know you know this … but your next big thing is out there,” comment former The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow.

“We all know that feeling so well, my girl. But the fact that you often get down to the final two is a testament to your talent,” 90210 reboot star Shenae Grimes wrte in part. “But it never doesn’t f***ing suck. Sending a big big hug.”

Aussie stars also showered Sursok with love during this challenging time.

“You’ve got this babe. Hang in there,” wrote The Voice host Sonia Kruger.

“So sh*t and such a hard industry. Hopefully it’s the next one xx,” expressed inaugural The Bachelor Australia winner Anna Heinrich.

“I’m so sorry honey,” commented Sursok’s former Home And Away co-star Christie Hayes.

“Be so proud of yourself for how close you got, and remember you are already a leading lady – you have been the lead on TV shows before, you will be the lead on the next one. This was still a huge win even though it hurts.”

Indeed, after playing Dani Sutherland on H&A from 2000 to 2004, Sursok – who is now based in the US but frequently visits Sydney – went on to star on The Young And The Restless, Hannah Montana and Pretty Little Liars.

But for every successful step she makes, evidently there have been many closed doors too.

“Your comments are making me cry on this beach,” the actress wrote in a follow-up post. “I’m so lucky to have you guys.”

In a previous interview with news.com.au, Sursok said she wishes she could have been kinder to herself when she was younger, and she’s still working on it to this very day.

“If I could do it over, it would be less about the events and things that I did and more about how kind I was to myself,” she told us back in 2023. “I still am not as kind as I could be to myself. I am a total perfectionist and that causes me a lot of anxiety.”

“I would just give myself a break and I would give myself more compassion and I would tell myself that I was worthy and enough.”
