In the most heartwarming photograph of the set, Inigo is sitting on his grandma Carole’s lap, as she reads to him from The Tale of Benjamin Bunny by Beatrix Potter. The storybook is adored by children across the world, but the Middleton family share a very special connection to Potter – James’ great-great-great uncle was Dr Arthur Lutpon, a Leeds University pro-chancellor whose brother-in-law, Lord Ashton, the 1st Baron Ashton of Hyde, was a first cousin of the author.

James Middleton also took the opportunity to explain to his followers why he has been uncontactable over social media for the past few months. ‘Many of you have been asking if I’m okay. I’ve been absent from social media for a while,’ he wrote. The truth is, this Lent I decided to leave social media (and it was wonderful). Sometimes we don’t realize the pressure it puts on us until we take a step back.’

The 38-year-old then offered some words of wisdom to his fans. ‘If I could give one piece of advice for 2026, it would be to try it yourselves: for a week, a month, or even longer… Anyway… we’re back! Alizée, Inigo, the dogs, and I wish you all a very happy Easter and thank you for worrying about me.’

Offering an insight into his family’s Easter celebrations, the Princess of Wales’ brother also showcased Carole Middleton’s treasured role as grandmother – a side royal watchers more often see in her interactions with the Wales children.

Carole has previously commented that she will always take an active role in Princes George, Louis and Princess Charlotte’s lives: ‘I want to run down the hills, climb the trees and go through the tunnel at the playground,’ she told Good Housekeeping. ‘As long as I am able to, that’s what I’ll be doing. I cook with them, I muck around dancing, we go on bike rides.’ Clearly, the same is true for her bond with Inigo.
